Heraldry began throughout Europe in the early 12th century when Knights and Leaders of Armies found it necessary to distinguish themselves in battle and at jousting tournaments. Brightly coloured symbols were used on shields, horse trappings, and coat armour, these signs soon became jealously guarded. Eventually, "Rolls" were produced listing each Knight's Coat of Arms and these "Rolls" led in turn to the founding of the College of Arms. Most surnames have been granted a Coat of Arms at sometime and we pride ourselves on thorough research to find the grant from our large library of official reference books on the subject. An ideal gift for that special occasion, Birthdays, Retirement, Christmas, see our parchment or plaques for Weddings, Wedding Anniversaries.
